You need
DVD Decrypter, which is free and rips your DVDs onto your computer
Then
Videora which is free and converts it from dvd format to iPod format. You will need to download this to do it, otherwise I’m afraid they won’t go on your iPod.

You must make sure the video is mp4 format for iPod. Here is a step by step guide about converting DVD, Videos, Flash and Youtube videos to iPod video
